Patna, June 9: Popular educator and YouTuber Khan Sir, whose real name is Faisal Khan, has received interim protection from arrest in connection with the coaching centre firing case in Patna.
A Patna civil court granted relief to Khan Sir on Tuesday while hearing his anticipatory bail plea. The educator had approached the court after being named in an FIR related to vandalism and alleged firing at the premises of Khan Global Studies Institute.
According to his legal counsel, the FIR was filed as part of an alleged attempt to defame him. Following the court’s order, Khan Sir’s lawyer said that no coercive action can be taken against his client until the next hearing and that he will cooperate fully with the ongoing police investigation.
The controversy stems from an incident on the night of June 2, when a group of 15 to 20 individuals allegedly vandalized the coaching institute, tore down posters, and pelted stones at the premises. CCTV footage reportedly captured the attackers damaging property, while separate videos later showed security guards firing shots into the air.
Police subsequently detained two security guards employed at the coaching centre. During questioning, the guards allegedly told investigators that they fired two rounds each from their licensed .315-bore rifles after being instructed to do so. They also claimed that Khan Sir was present at the location during the incident.
Based on the investigation, Patna Police named Khan Sir and two others in the FIR under sections related to attempt to murder and violations of the Arms Act.
Following the attack, Khan Sir alleged that individuals linked to a rival coaching institute were responsible for the vandalism. Meanwhile, members associated with the rival institute have denied the allegation and accused Khan Sir of staging the incident, further intensifying the dispute.
The case remains under investigation, and the court is expected to hear the matter again at a later date.

Patna: A day after gunmen allegedly opened fire outside his coaching centre in Patna, educator and YouTuber Khan Sir claimed that the attack was carried out by anti-social elements linked to rival coaching institutes upset over his low-fee education model.
Speaking to the media, Khan Sir said the incident occurred after classes had concluded and following the announcement of the Bihar Police recruitment examination results, in which thousands of his students reportedly qualified.
“Classes had ended, and we were tired after the results. Then some anti-social elements came, started threatening us and assaulted the security guards,” he said.
Khan Sir alleged that the attackers appeared to be associated with coaching centres that were unhappy with the affordable fees charged at his institute. “They are troubled by low fees. I believe poor students also have the right to study,” he remarked.
He further stated that the suspects have been identified and that CCTV footage from the coaching centre has been handed over to the police as part of the investigation.
On the issue of security, Khan Sir said he should be provided protection, but added that the decision ultimately rests with the administration.
Police have launched an investigation into the firing incident and are examining CCTV footage and other evidence to identify and apprehend those responsible.
