AIMIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi has urged traffic police and GHMC officials to immediately speed up the construction of four sanctioned flyovers in the Bandlaguda area after a recent fatal road accident highlighted growing traffic safety concerns.

During an inspection of the Bandlaguda Junction area near Highway Hotel, Owaisi called for urgent action to complete pending infrastructure works aimed at easing congestion and preventing accidents in the locality. He said the completion of the proposed flyovers could significantly reduce, if not eliminate, dangerous traffic mishaps in the area.

Among the key projects identified are new flyovers at Bandlaguda Junction and Hafeezbabanagar Junction, along with several road widening and expansion works planned across the Charminar Zone.

Owaisi also stressed the need to address traffic bottlenecks on the road stretch connecting Bandlaguda to Errakunta, which witnesses heavy vehicular movement daily.

The GHMC has been directed to expedite the preparation of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) and complete the land acquisition process to ensure the early execution of the proposed development works.

The demand to expedite the Bandlaguda flyover projects comes after a recent fatal road accident near Bandlaguda Junction in Hyderabad. A 25-year-old newly married woman, identified as Fatima, died after a speeding lorry allegedly rammed into the scooter she was travelling on with her husband while returning home from a wedding function on the Chandrayangutta–Bandlaguda road. The lorry driver reportedly fled the scene after the collision.
