Hydraa Identifies 202 Waterlogging Spots Ahead of Monsoon, Reviews Rain Preparation

Hyderabad: With the monsoon season approaching, the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (Hydraa) has intensified preparations to tackle rain-related disruptions across the city’s IT corridor and surrounding areas.

Officials have identified 202 waterlogging-prone locations within the limits of the newly formed Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC), including 83 major, 95 medium, and 24 minor problem spots.

To ensure smooth traffic movement during the rainy season, Hydraa Commissioner A.V. Ranganath chaired a coordination meeting with officials from various departments. He directed authorities to expedite the desilting of nalas, trim hazardous trees, and inspect pumps required at Road Under Bridges (RUBs) to facilitate quick drainage of rainwater.

Ranganath also suggested sending SMS alerts to commuters, advising them to use alternative routes during heavy rainfall to avoid congestion and delays.

CMC Commissioner G. Srijana stated that nearly 98 percent of desilting work has already been completed. She added that officials would soon inspect 161 dilapidated buildings and take necessary action to prevent accidents during the monsoon.

The measures are aimed at minimizing waterlogging, traffic snarls, and other rain-related challenges that have frequently affected Hyderabad’s IT corridor in recent years.
