Ahead of the upcoming Bakrid festival, senior Telangana officials held a high-level video conference to review law and order preparedness and strengthen coordination among departments across the State.
The meeting was attended by senior officials including Special Chief Secretary for Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Jayesh Ranjan, Animal Husbandry Secretary K. Ilambarthi, senior Revenue officials, Police officials, Commissioners of Police, Superintendents of Police, and field-level officers.
During the review, officials discussed measures to ensure peaceful celebrations and prevent illegal transportation and trafficking of cattle during the festival period. Authorities said strict vigilance has been ordered across Telangana in line with directions issued during earlier review meetings chaired by the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister.
The Telangana Police stated that Bakrid is a sensitive occasion from a law and order perspective and emphasized its commitment to maintaining communal harmony, peace, and public safety throughout the State.
Officials have been instructed to strictly enforce provisions under the Cow Slaughter Act, Transport of Animals Rules, and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. Authorities warned that stringent legal action would be taken against violators.
To curb illegal cattle smuggling, police and enforcement agencies have activated 52 inter-state border check posts along neighbouring States and 203 additional check posts across Telangana. Intensified vehicle inspections, verification of transport-related certificates, and special surveillance at cattle fairs have also been ordered in the coming days.
At the same time, officials cautioned that no individual or organisation should take the law into their own hands. The police warned that any attempts to disturb peace, spread misinformation, provoke tensions, or incite unrest — either physically or through social media — would invite strict action under the law.
All Commissioners and SPs have also been directed to conduct coordination meetings with community representatives to prevent misunderstandings and promote peaceful and harmonious celebrations across districts.
The Telangana Police reiterated its commitment to ensuring that Bakrid is celebrated peacefully, respectfully, and in the true spirit of communal harmony across the State.
