UP: Unable to get a Ventilator, Doctor Dies at Same Hospital he Worked for 50 Years

Prayagraj: Dr. JK Mishra, 85-year-old, who served around 50 years in at Swarup Rani Nehru (SRN) hospital in Prayagraj, but when he needed a ventilator for himself due to Covid-related complications, he could not find a ventilator and died in front of his wife at the same hospital he worked for 50 years.

Dr JK Mishra developed Covid infection symptoms like shortness of breath and oxygen deprivation on April 13, and he was admitted to the same SRN hospital.

During treatment his condition deteriorated, and doctors advised that he should be shifted to a ventilator facility, but there no beds with ventilator facility, and all around 100 ventilators were occupied by the patients admitted before Dr Mishra.

“It was not possible to remove any other patient from the ventilator to arrange one for Dr Mishra,” Suryabhan Kushwaha, Emergency medical officer said.
