Sahabaz Ahmed, Glenn Maxwell lead RCB to defeat SRH, ‘Very Bitter Pill to Swallow’: David Warner

Chennai, 15 April: RCB’s Left-arm spinner Shahbaz Ahmed (3/7) and Glenn Maxwell’s half-century help Royal Challengers Bangalore notch up a six-run win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League here on Wednesday.

Put in to bat, RCB managed 149 for eight on the back of Maxwell’s 41-ball 59 before Shahbaz changed the complexion of the match by dismissing Manish Pandey (38), Jonny Bairstow (12) and Abdul Samad (0) in one over, as SRH ended at 143 for nine in the stipulated 20 overs.

SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain David Warner was deeply hurt after his SRH lost to RCB from a winning position in the IPL 2021 on Wednesday. David Warner’s half-century had put SRH in the driver’s seat but their middle order batting performance helped RCB register a six-run win at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

SRH captain David Warner feels SRH needs to have a big partnership in the middle overs if they want to get over the line.

SRH captain David Warner was saying in post-match presentation.

“Very Bitter Pill to Swallow”

“Look, it was just about building a partnership and I was quite disappointed with how we went – cross-batted shots against left-arm orthodox. It just hurts,”

“We have another three games here; the wickets are going to get better here. We need to try to take powerplay wickets and need to have one big partnership in the middle,”
