Russia’s ‘Sputnik V’ Now 3rd Covid-19 Vaccine Approved by Experts in India

New Delhi, 12 April: Sputnik V, Russia’s Covid vaccine has been recommended to be used in India by a committee of medical experts.

As the India battling the second wave Covid 19 infection across the India, the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) approve Sputnik V, the third vaccine to be used in India.

Earlier DCGI approved Serum Institute of India’s ‘Covishield’ – developed by Oxford-AstraZeneca – and Bharat Biotech’s ‘Covaxin’.

Sputnik V, which is manufactured in India by Dr Reddy’s, has the highest effectiveness of 91.6%, after the Moderna and Pfizer shots.

After the Subject Expert Committee (SEC)’s recommendation, the vaccine has to be greenlit by the DCGI before it can be used in general to vaccinate citizens.
