Hyderabad, June 12: An IndiGo flight carrying Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was diverted to Bengaluru on Friday night after authorities at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport denied landing clearance due to adverse weather conditions caused by heavy rainfall in Hyderabad.
The flight, which departed from New Delhi and was scheduled to land in Hyderabad at around 9:15 p.m., was rerouted as intense rains accompanied by thunder and lightning affected flight operations in the city.
It was not immediately clear whether the Chief Minister would return to Hyderabad on a late-night flight or stay overnight in Bengaluru before resuming his journey.
Meanwhile, heavy rains lashed several parts of Hyderabad on Friday evening, leading to severe traffic congestion and waterlogging on major roads. Emergency teams and civic authorities were deployed to clear stranded vehicles and restore normal traffic movement.
The downpour disrupted daily life across the city, with officials continuing efforts to address rain-related issues and monitor the situation.
