Rajinikanth Quits Politics, Dissolves Political Party

Chennai: South Indian superstar Rajinikanth, 70, after deciding out of politics citing health reasons, now quits politics and dissolved his political party Rajini Makkal Mandram, effectively closing that chapter.

“I have no plans of entering politics in the future,” said Rajinikanth, after meeting with members of his forum one last time.

Rajinikanth, earlier in 2018 launched a political party The Rajini Makkal Mandram.

Rajinikanth issued a statement in Tamil (Translated in English)

Greetings to the Rajini People’s Forum administrators and members, and to the fan base, the gods who made me live. After I said I could not come to politics, what was the mission of the Rajini People’s Forum? What is the status? That is questionable among people’s forum administrators and fans it is my duty to explain it.
I started a political party and turned the Rajinikanth Fan Charity Forum into a Rajini People’s Forum to get involved in politics and formed many positions and many pro teams at the state and district level.
The timing did not make what we thought possible. I have no intention of getting involved in politics in the future, so I kindly inform you that after dissolving the Rajini People’s Forum, Rajinikanth will now function as a fan charity forum for the benefit of the people with the secretaries, associate, deputy secretaries and executive committee members in the Rajini People’s Forum for the time being.
