“Proposal” Turns Deadly: Bengaluru Woman Allegedly Ties Up Boyfriend, Sets Him on Fire

Bengaluru: In a chilling incident, a woman in Bengaluru allegedly murdered her boyfriend after luring him home under the pretext of a “surprise proposal.”

Police said Prerna and Kiran, both 27 and colleagues at a telecom store, had been in a relationship for over a year. However, tensions had recently surfaced, with Prerna reportedly upset over feeling ignored and believing Kiran was unwilling to marry her.

On Tuesday, Prerna invited Kiran to her residence in Anjanapura, south Bengaluru, when she was alone. After a brief conversation, she allegedly blindfolded him and asked him to sit on a chair, claiming she was preparing a unique, “foreign-style” proposal. She then tied him up, reportedly recording the act on her phone.

According to officials, while Kiran remained restrained and blindfolded, Prerna brought a pre-arranged flammable liquid, poured it over him, and set him on fire.

Police have taken the woman into custody. Deputy Commissioner of Police D.L. Nagesh confirmed that, during questioning, she admitted to the crime, citing anger over being ignored as the motive.
