Bhopal: Additional District and Sessions Judge Tabassum Khan has been subjected to an online hate campaign and protests after sentencing 14 men to life imprisonment in connection with the 2022 mob lynching of a truck driver transporting cattle in Madhya Pradesh.
On June 12, Judge Khan convicted the 14 accused, describing the attack as “extremely brutal.” The court held that the accused had formed an unlawful assembly with the common objective of assaulting the victim, Nazir Ahmed, who was beaten to death on the night of August 2, 2022, in Barakhar village while transporting cattle from Madhya Pradesh to Maharashtra.
Following the verdict, family members of the convicted men gathered outside the court, expressing grief and protesting the judgment.

Members of the Gau Raksha Parishad reportedly burned her effigies, labelled her “anti-Hindu,” and circulated abusive social media posts targeting her religion. Protesters were also heard raising slogans against the judge.
