Mojtaba Khamenei Named Iran’s New Supreme Leader

Tehran: Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei has reportedly been appointed as the new Supreme Leader of Iran, succeeding his father Ali Khamenei, according to Iranian state media and several international reports.

The decision was taken by the Assembly of Experts, the powerful council responsible for selecting the country’s highest political and religious authority. With this move, Mojtaba becomes the third Supreme Leader in the history of the Islamic Republic, following Ruhollah Khomeini and Ali Khamenei.

The 56-year-old cleric has long been viewed as an influential figure within Iran’s political system. Although he rarely appears in public, analysts believe he maintains strong ties with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, one of the country’s most powerful institutions.

His reported appointment comes at a time of heightened tensions in the Middle East, amid ongoing confrontations involving Iran, Israel, and the United States. Experts say his leadership could significantly influence Iran’s domestic policies and regional strategy in the years ahead.
