In a clever-but-not-clever-enough attempt to dodge traffic fines, a 52-year-old man was caught by the Commissioner’s Task Force in Hyderabad for tampering with his vehicle’s number plate.
According to the Hyderabad City Police, the Charminar Zone Task Force team apprehended Kolimi Yadaiah on May 1, 2026. The accused, a resident of Vivek Nagar in Chikkadpally, works as an office boy.
What Happened?
Police officials grew suspicious after spotting Yadaiah roaming around on his Honda Activa with a visibly altered number plate. Upon closer inspection, they found that he had cleverly used a sticker to change the registration number from TS09GF1079 to TS09GE1079.
Turns out, this wasn’t just a random DIY project — it was a calculated move to escape 49 pending traffic challans amounting to ₹20,815.
Seizure & Case Details
The police seized the Honda Activa used in the offence. A criminal case (Cr. No. 141/2026) has been registered at Chikkadpally Police Station under relevant sections of the law, including provisions of the BNS and Motor Vehicles Act.
Police Action
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Inspector S. Saidababu along with a dedicated team from the Charminar Task Force and Chikkadpally police staff.
The Takeaway 😅
Trying to outsmart traffic systems with stickers might sound like a hack, but in reality, it’s a fast track to legal trouble. The police have once again shown that no shortcut goes unnoticed for long.
Moral of the story: Pay your challans… or be ready to pay a lot more.
