Mumbai: Mumbai Police’s efforts to take custody of notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi have been blocked due to an order by the Ministry of Home Affairs. Despite Bishnoi’s gang claiming responsibility for high-profile incidents, like the April 2023 firing outside Salman Khan’s house and the recent murder of ex-Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique, Bishnoi remains in Gujarat’s Sabarmati Jail.

Bishnoi was transferred from Delhi’s Tihar Jail to Sabarmati in August 2023 for a drug smuggling case.
