Hyderabad to Get Skywalk Around Hussain Sagar Lake – CM Revanth Reddy

Hyderabad: The Telangana government, under the direction of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, has announced plans to build an elevated skywalk around Hussain Sagar Lake in Hyderabad, aiming to boost tourism and enhance the area’s appeal. The skywalk will connect key landmarks such as Tank Bund, Martyrs Memorial, Necklace Road, and Sanjeevaiah Park. The design will feature food courts and stalls along the skywalk to attract tourists.

During a meeting with tourism officials, including Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao and Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari, the Chief Minister instructed them to develop designs for the skywalk and to enhance the Gautam Buddha statue in the lake as a center for tourism and spirituality.

Additionally, the government plans to establish an international museum at Buddha Vanam in Nagarjuna Sagar and integrate it into a broader Buddhist tourism circuit, which will also include the Buddha statue at Hussain Sagar, and Buddhist sites at Phanigiri and Nelakondapalli. A proposal under the ‘Swadeshi Darshan 2.0’ scheme has already been submitted to the central government, including a digital museum, exhibition, and archives at Buddha Vanam, with an estimated cost of Rs 25 crore.

Further infrastructure developments include constructing a four-lane road between Hyderabad and Nagarjuna Sagar, widening roads around Golconda Fort, and removing any encroachments in the area without displacing residents.
