Hyderabad: According to sources, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has requested an extension to respond to the notice regarding the doctored video case involving Home Minister Amit Shah. His lawyer has reportedly sent an email to the IFSO unit of the Delhi Police.
Additionally, four members of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC), including Shiva Kumar Ambala, Asma Tasleem, Satish Manne, and Naveen Pettem, have been summoned under sections 91 and 160 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPc) to join the investigation at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
Recently, following the conclusion of the second phase of Lok Sabha polls, a doctored video of Union Home Minister Amit Shah circulated on social media. In the manipulated video, Shah’s statement suggesting a commitment to abolishing reservation quotas for Muslims in the state was altered to imply advocating the scrapping of all reservations.
On Sunday, Delhi Police registered an FIR after receiving complaints from both the BJP and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). The case has been filed under Sections 153, 153A, 465, 469, and 171G of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 66C of the Information Technology (IT) Act.
Police have so far arrested three individuals for circulating the fake video, with two arrests made in Gujarat and one in Assam.
