Bhubaneshwar: A young woman was allegedly stripped naked and beaten up by in-laws on Saturday in Kendrapara district of Odisha. She was apparently tortured for not being able to fulfil dowry demands.
The disturbing incident was recorded on camera and has gone viral on social media.
In the viral video on social media, some men could be seen beating the woman with sticks, she was seen lying on the ground, assumably covered with some cloth after she was stripped naked.
Another woman who was trying to stop the men from beating was also pushed away and beaten.
Police started probing the incident after the woman’s uncle filed a complaint,
Kabuli Barik, inspector of Nikirai police station said, some locals in Koruk village had tried to intervene to rescue the woman, but her in-laws, did not pay heed to any of their requests.
