WhatsApp Goes to Delhi High Court against New Digital Rules

New Delhi: WhatsApp India reached Delhi High Court and filed a lawsuit against the government’s new digital rules that take effect today.

Whatsapp in their lawsuit said the new digital rules would force it to break privacy protections of WhatsApp users.

The Facebook-owned messaging service filed its petition on Tuesday against the rules that will require it to “trace” the origin of messages sent on the service.

WhatsApp who has nearly 400 million users in India, said in their statement, “Requiring messaging apps to ‘trace’ chats is the equivalent of asking us to keep a fingerprint of every single message sent on WhatsApp, which would break end-to-end encryption and fundamentally undermines people’s right to privacy,”
