Telangana State to Increase Covid-19 Hospital Beds from 18K to 60K

Hyderabad: Somesh Kumar, Chief Secretary who is now instructed by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to monitor all Covid19 related issues, directed the officials on Saturday to create 10,000 additional covid-19 beds in government hospitals with oxygen supply taking the total numbers to 20,000.

And the number of beds available for Covid-19 patients has been increased from 18,232 in both government and private hospitals now will be increased further to take them to a total of 60,000 beds.

Health officials are preparing arrangements for home delivery of additional five lakh free medical kits in addition to the existing stock of 7.5 lakh for Covid-19 patients who are being treated in home isolation and other symptomatic persons.

Oxygen supplies are being maintained at satisfactory levels as of now using IAF aircraft as well as railway rakes to send tankers to Odisha but to serve with increased occupancy they required more oxygen. Somesh Kumar urged the Centre to allocate 600 MT oxygen to the State against the present allocation of 430 MT per day.
