Hyderabad: Sputnik V, which has an efficiency of 91.6 percent, is the third vaccine to be approved for use in India and to be manufactured in India by Hyderabad based Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories.

The first dose of the Sputnik V vaccine was administered in Hyderabad on Friday, as part of a limited pilot.

The vaccine is likely to be available in the market from next week, the Centre had said on Thursday as the vaccine shortage in various states deepened and restrictions were brought in for vaccination.

An imported dose of Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine against coronavirus will cost ₹ 995.40 (Rs. 948 plus 5 percent GST per dose) in India. Doses of Sputnik V which are made in India, however, are likely to be cheaper.
