New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday directed Uttar Pradesh Government to shift Kerala journalist Siddiqque Kappan from Mathura Jail in Uttar Pradesh to a government hospital in Delhi for Treatment.
After his recovery, he has to be sent back to Mathura jail, where he is under custody in a UAPA case on the allegation that he was trying to create communal unrest in UP after the Hathras gangrape-murder crime.
Siddique Kappan was arrested while he was on way to Hathras to cover the situation following the alleged gang rape and death of the 20-year-old woman from Scheduled Castes, which triggered outrage across the country.
