Saudi Arabia Approves COVISHIELD Vaccine, Relief for Saudi NRIs

Riyadh: Saudi Arabia Approves COVISHIELD Vaccine (Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine manufactured locally by the Serum Institute of India) is a major relief to returning NRIs to Saudi Arabia.

The Indian embassy in Saudi Arabia confirms the same through tweet as…

“Embassy is pleased to announce that Saudi Authorities have recognized the equivalence of Covishield vaccine in India to the Astra Zeneca vaccine which is approved by Saudi authorities.”

Earlier, Saudi Arabia approved vaccines are Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, Oxford-AstraZeneca, and Johnson & Johnson.

After Covishield approval NRIs returning to Saudi Arabia do not need to go for mandatory quarantine on arrival in Saudi Arabia.

According to Saudi Covid protocol, any international travelers coming to Saudi Arabia are required to be in mandatory quarantine if they were not vaccinated, approved by Saudi Arabia.

Those who were vaccinated must possess a certificate of vaccination certified by their country of origin.
