Ramnagar, Uttarakhand: Tirath Singh Rawat, Uttarakhand Chief Minister who was sworn in as Chief Minister on March 10, 2021 is in headline for his controversial remarks.

‘You Gave Birth To 2… Why Not 20?’

On 21^st March, Tirath Singh Rawat said, poor families struggling to feed themselves amid the Covid pandemic should have had 20 children if they wanted more rations from a central government scheme that distributes food grains and pulses.

“Every household was given five kg rations. If 10 (people in a home) got 50 kg, then 20 got a quintal (100 kg). But some were jealous that two people got 10 kg and 20 got a quintal. Why? When there was time you only gave birth to two… why not 20?” Rawat said.

‘America Ruled India for 200 Years’

On 21^st March, Tirath Singh Rawat said “As compared to other countries, India is managing Covid 19 crisis better. America, who ruled us for 200 years and ruled the world, is struggling during pandemic. Over 3,75 lakh people died in USA. In Italy, having best health facility in world, lost over 50 lakh people lives and heading for another lock down.”

‘Modi will be considered as an avatar of Lord Ram and Krishna’

On 16^th March, Tirath Singh Rawat was speaking at ‘Netra Kumbha’, organised by Hans Foundation, CM Rawat said, “The way people started considering Lord Ram and Krishna as gods in Dwapar and Treta Yuga because of their works, in the same way, ‘Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be considered as Lord Ram and Krishna in times to come’.

“Earlier the PM of India would not get any special attention in the world, but today even the biggest leaders of the world are eager to be photographed with PM Modi,” Rawat added.

‘Girls Wearing Ripped Jeans’

On 16^th March, Tirath Singh Rawat then went on to describe the attire of a woman who sat next to him on a flight. He described her as wearing boots, jeans ripped at the knees, bangles in her hands and with two children travelling with her. He also said she runs an NGO, goes out in society and has two children and wondered what values she would give them.
