New Delhi: Kanhaiya Kumar, Former JNU leader, and CPI politician, and Gujarat Dalit leader Jignesh Mevani today joined the Congress.
Both leaders were welcomed at a function at the All-India Congress Committee headquarters in New Delhi in the presence of party leader Rahul Gandhi.
Kanhaiya Kumar, former JNU leader was earlier with the Communist Party of India (CPI). He contested from his hometown Begusarai on a CPI ticket in Bihar against the BJP’s Giriraj Singh of the BJP but failed to win.
Jignesh Mevani, a Dalit leader and MLA representing Gujarat’s Vadgam constituency.
