Iran has allowed an India-bound LPG tanker to safely pass through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz despite ongoing tensions and partial shipping restrictions linked to the Iran-U.S.-Israel conflict. The tanker crossed the waterway without incident, sources said, and another vessel carrying LPG for India is expected to follow soon.
Iranian officials signaled that ships heading to India may receive safe passage due to the longstanding ties between the two countries and shared energy interests. The move is significant because the Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important energy shipping routes, handling a large share of global oil and gas supplies.
The development comes amid the wider Middle East conflict that has disrupted maritime traffic and raised fears of global energy supply shortages. Allowing Indian-bound tankers through the strait could help stabilize LPG supplies to India during the crisis.
