Hyderabad, 03 April: Hyderabd Traffic Police on a Mission to book drunk and driving people in Hyderabad city to ensure road safety. A total of 2049 drivers were caught under the influence of alcohol during the month of March, 2021.
3 persons were sentenced to spend nine days in jail,
10 others were jailed for seven days,
45 more got jail sentences of five days and two days,
14 were made to stand till the rising of the court day.
These figures are only from Hyderabad Traffic Police, those caught by the Cyberabad and Rachakonda Traffic are not included in above numbers.
The Hyderabad traffic police filed charge sheets against 1,917 drunk and driving people and produced them in court, and also imposed a fine of Rs. 1,99,56,300 (almost 2 crores).
Further all the booked drivers were asked to attend counseling sessions at the Traffic Training Institutes at Goshamahal and Begumpet.
The police have reiterated that Those who were convicted in drunken drive and other traffic violations may face difficulties in getting government jobs, passport and visa clearance.
