Huge Crowds at Kumbh Mela, Ignoring Covid 19 Guidelines, as India Records 1.7 Lakhs Cases in last 24 hours

Lucknow, 12 April: India records almost 1.7 lakhs news cases and 904 more Death in Single Day, highest number across globe, while uncertainties grew over a further spike, as thousands of devotees gathered for a ritual bath in the Ganges river.

In ‘Kumbh Mela’ in Haridwar, Uttarakhand’s, lakhs of devotees gathered on the banks of the Ganges river to join in the months-long ‘Kumbh Mela’ festival, risking a further spread and increase of Covid 19 cases.

The police and authorities are continuously appealing to devotees to maintain social distancing and wear a face mask, and also authorities have made virus tests mandatory for those entering the area, but the officials were battling and failed to control the huge crowds.
