100 Injured, 20 Critical, Gallery Stand Collapses at Kabaddi Championship in Suryapet

Preliminary investigations revealed that the incident happened when the gallery stand was overcrowded with audience.

Suryapet, 22 March: Around 100 audiences were injured, 20 of them are known to be critically injured when a gallery stand collapsed just minutes before 47th Junior anational-level Kabaddi championship was to be inaugurated on Monday evening in Suryapet.

There were more than 5,000 audience present at the venue of the 47th junior national Kabaddi championship. The event was supposed to inaugurated G Jagadish Reddy. Energy Minister at the district police grounds in the Suryapet town

According to R Bhaskaran SP Suryapet, preliminary investigations revealed that the incident happened when the gallery stand was overcrowded with audience.

The critically injured are being taken to hospitals in Hyderabad while other injured are being treated in Suryapet government hospital.

More than 1500 participants from 29 different states were taking part in the sports event, being organized in Telangana state government for the first time.
