Hyderabad: Tension prevailed at the Abids police station after AIMIM Nampally MLA Mohammed Majid Hussain staged a protest, alleging that police were extending “special treatment” to two prime suspects in the murder case of senior advocate Khaja Moizuddin.
The protest erupted after police reportedly brought Mehboob Alam Khan and his son, Mujahid Alam Khan, to the station for questioning in connection with the advocate’s murder.
According to police, unidentified persons allegedly ran over Moizuddin with a car on Saturday morning when he stepped out of his residence to visit an ailing relative at a hospital.
In the complaint lodged with police, Moizuddin’s son, MS Farhan, alleged that Mehboob Alam Khan and Mujahid Alam Khan had threatened his father multiple times in the past over disputes linked to wakf properties. He also expressed suspicion over their possible involvement in the killing.
The MLA questioned the manner in which the suspects were being handled by police and demanded a fair and transparent investigation into the case. Police officials, however, continued questioning the suspects as part of the ongoing probe.
