Hyderabad: A 35-year-old woman, identified as Faheemunnisa, was killed in a suspected hit-and-run incident in Asif Nagar on Sunday.
According to police, the woman was standing outside her residence when she was allegedly struck by an Innova car (AP 05 BH 3456). The impact left her critically injured, and she succumbed to her injuries.
The occupants of the vehicle reportedly abandoned the car at the scene and fled before police arrived.
Police later seized the vehicle and arrested its owners, who had reportedly rented it out on a self-drive basis. Investigators are currently examining CCTV footage from the area to identify those who were using the vehicle at the time of the accident.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the car may have been taken by the son of a local political leader. Officials also recovered liquor bottles from the vehicle, raising suspicions that the driver may have been under the influence of alcohol when the accident occurred.
A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to trace the occupants and establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
