Hyderabad: Two Lufthansa flights from Frankfurt to Hyderabad and Mumbai were forced to return midway due to escalating tensions between Iran and Israel, following Israel’s ground assault on Lebanon. FlightRadar, a global aircraft tracking service, reported that the Lufthansa Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner (DLH752) en route to Hyderabad turned back after nearly entering Iranian airspace, having crossed Armenia. Similarly, another flight, Lufthansa Airbus A340-313 (DLH756) bound for Mumbai, reversed course after flying over the Black Sea near Turkey.
In addition to these diversions, other Lufthansa and Swiss International Airlines flights to Dubai were also affected. A Frankfurt to Dubai flight (DLH630) and a Zurich to Dubai flight (SWR242) turned back to their respective origins due to regional instability.
Further complicating the situation, Iraq closed its airspace, creating widespread disruptions in the region. Aircraft flying over western Iran are now rerouting to newly established temporary airways, avoiding traditional routes, as reported by FlightRadar. These airspace restrictions and re-routings highlight the broader impact of rising hostilities between Israel and its neighbors, affecting international air travel across the Middle East.
