Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Urges Centre to Declare Flood Damage as National Disaster; Announces Relief Measures and Increased Compensation

Hyderabad: Chief Minister Shri A. Revanth Reddy has urged the Central Government to declare the damage caused by heavy rains and floods in Telangana as a national disaster. During a high-level meeting, he reviewed the ongoing rains, the flood damage, and the relief measures. The key points discussed include:

  1. Appeal to the Centre: A letter was sent to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, requesting his visit to the flood-affected areas due to the severity of the situation.
  2. Damage Report: The state is preparing a comprehensive report on the damage in districts like Khammam, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Mahabubabad, Suryapet, and others. This report will be submitted to the Centre to seek immediate assistance for relief operations.
  3. Immediate Relief Fund: Rs 5 crore has been released to the affected districts for immediate relief efforts.
  4. Increased Financial Assistance:
    • Compensation to the families of the deceased has been increased from Rs 4 lakh to Rs 5 lakh.
    • Compensation for the death of cattle, goats, and sheep will also be increased.
  5. Relief Measures and Preparedness:
    • Call centers to be set up in each district collectorate for relief programs.
    • The command control center should be prepared for emergency management.
    • Training 8 police battalions in the state on the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) model for emergency services.
  6. Infrastructure and Power Supply:
    • Immediate repair of damaged roads in Hyderabad to prevent traffic issues.
    • Continuous monitoring and resolution of power supply problems.

These steps aim to provide timely assistance and mitigate the impact of the disaster in the affected regions.
