Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Traffic Police have intensified their efforts to curb traffic violations by launching special drives since the beginning of July. Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic), P Vishwa Prasad, stated that these drives aim to warn and penalize drivers for various infractions. Key focus areas include the illegal use of black tinted glass in cars, the fitness of school buses and auto-rickshaws, and daytime drunk driving.
Key Actions and Outcomes:
- Tinted Glass Violations: 1007 cases booked with a Rs 1,000 penalty per violation.
- Auto-Rickshaw and School Bus Violations: Since June 27, around 10,000 cases booked for infractions such as drunk driving, minors driving, overloading children, and lack of fitness certificates or uniforms.
- Awareness Programs: Conducted for school management, parents, and drivers about children’s safety, yet violations persist.
- Joint Special Drive with RTA: Since June 27, 400 cases booked for various violations including overloading and drunk driving. Special teams checked 2311 vehicles.
- Daytime Drunk Driving: Approximately 2000 people caught, with around 70 receiving jail terms and 10 driving licenses suspended.
