Hyderabad: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) uncovered 1.2 kg of gold biscuits linked to BRS Patancheru MLA Gudem Mahipal Reddy during an investigation into an alleged money laundering case involving illegal mining. The gold, valued at approximately Rs 1 crore, was found in a State Bank of India branch locker registered under the MLA’s name. The ED is also investigating a mining scandal involving the MLA’s brother, G Madhusudhan Reddy, and others. The gold biscuits had no purchase documentation and were domestically sourced. Additionally, the ED seized documents related to about 100 real estate properties owned by the MLA, his son Vikram Reddy, his brother, and various benamis. Earlier, the ED had raided properties connected to the MLA and his family, including seizing mobile phones for forensic examination. The investigation follows an FIR by Patancheru police regarding illegal exploitation of metals and minerals worth Rs 300 crores, for which the MLA’s brother had been previously arrested.
