30 Dead, 90 Injured as Explosions Hit Friday Prayers in Afghanistan, Taliban asked People for Blood Donation

Kabul: At least 30 people are dead and more than 90 injured after three explosions hit a Shia mosque during Friday prayers in the Afghan city of Kandahar.

Witnesses said they saw three attackers – one detonating a device at the main door and two inside the mosque.

Taliban special forces have secured the site and have asked people to donate blood to help the victims, Reuters reports.

At least 15 ambulances were at the scene afterward, an AFP journalist said.

Kandahar is Afghanistan’s second-largest city and the spiritual birthplace of the Taliban, so an attack in the city by IS-K, which is extremely hostile towards the Taliban, would be significant.
