Acting on a tip-off, the police found the accused hiding in a temple in Bhuj before making the arrest.
Mumbai: Officials reported that two gunmen who targeted actor Salman Khan’s Mumbai residence on Sunday have been apprehended by the Mumbai police. The suspects, identified as Vicky Sahab Gupta and Sagar Shrijogendra Pal from Bihar, were arrested in Bhuj, Gujarat, yesterday evening. Acting on a tip-off, the police found the accused hiding in a temple in Bhuj before making the arrest.
Earlier, On Sunday morning around 5 am, two individuals on a motorcycle fired four shots outside Galaxy Apartments in Bandra, where actor Salman Khan resides, before quickly fleeing the scene.
CCTV footage revealed that both assailants wore caps and carried backpacks. The footage also captured them firing towards Khan’s residence.
The duo had purchased a used motorcycle from Raigad district to reach Khan’s home. They had traveled to Mumbai on this bike from Panvel, where they had rented accommodation for a month.
According to police sources, both men are affiliated with the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Bishnoi is currently incarcerated in Tihar Jail for his involvement in various high-profile murders, including those of musician Sidhu Moose Wala and Rajput leader and Karni Sena chief Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi.
In the wake of the shooting incident, Anmol Bishnoi, Lawrence Bishnoi’s brother, claimed responsibility in an online post, describing it as a “preview” and issuing a warning to the Bollywood actor.
The motorcycle used in the attack was found abandoned near Mount Mary Church, just over a kilometre from Khan’s residence. Officials stated that the bike was registered in the name of an individual residing in Panvel, Navi Mumbai, who had recently sold it, according to Assistant Commissioner of Police Panvel, Ashok Rajput.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has reached out to Khan, offering unwavering support and a commitment to uphold the rule of law.
