Taliban Advances in Afghanistan, Capture Five Regional Capitals till Sunday

Kabul: fighting between Afghan forces and Taliban escalated across Afghanistan after the US and other foreign armies began to withdraw their forces from Afghanistan after 20 years of military operations.

The Taliban have captured three more regional capitals in the country as they continue to advances territorial gains in Afghanistan.

Taliban seized control of the key northern city of Kunduz on Sunday, as well as Sar-e-Pul and Taloqan. Earlier they capture two more regional capitals, now a total of five regional capitals have fallen to the Taliban since Friday, with Kunduz being their most important.

Kunduz is well connected to other areas, including Afghanistan’s capital Kabul.

Heavy fighting between Taliban and Afghan forces has also been reported in Herat in the west, and the southern cities of Kandahar and Lashkar Gah.

However, The Afghan government forces said their forces were fighting to retake the city captured by the Taliban.
