Hyderabad: The continuous rain in Hyderabad and surrounding areas forced authorities to open the Osman Sagar gates after a decade.
Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) opened 2 Osman Sagar Dam Gates after more than 10 years. Osman Sagar has total 15 Gates.
Two more gates of another water reservoir, Himayat Sagar were lifted on Thursday, now a total of five of its 17 gates were lifted in the last three days due to heavy rain since last week.
HMWSSB officials said in a press release that decision to open the gates in both the reservoirs was taken after India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rains for two more days
The water board’s emergency response teams were also pressed into service to inspect low-lying areas near the Musi.
