Hyderabad: In a horrifying incident, a grandson in Warangal, Telangana allegedly kept the dead body of his 93-year-old grandfather inside the fridge as he did not have money to perform his last funerals.
The retired grandfather and his grandson Nikhil have been staying in a rented home at Parkala in Warangal district and are said to have been surviving on the pension of the grandfather.
According to police, Nikhil told police that his grandfather was bedridden and died of ill health three days ago. Since he was unable to perform the last rites as he did not have money, he had initially wrapped the body with a bedsheet and later kept the body in the fridge.
The police team searched the house found a decomposing body inside the refrigerator after a neighbour reportedly complained about a foul smell.
Police are also investigating if the grandson hid the grandfather’s body to ensure that his pension did not stop.
Police registered a case of suspicious death and further investigation is in process.
