Kanpur, 10 March: Day after filing a gang rape case, father of the girl died today in a road accident outside a hospital where girl was taken for a medical checkup.
A 13-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by three men in her village near Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
Golu Yadav the main accused of the gang rape case is a son of a sub-inspector in Kannauj, UP, about 100 km from Kanpur.
After the arrest of Golu Yadav, the girl’s family was saying that the accused family had been threatening them ever since the gang-rape case was filed.
Kanpur Police had filed a case of gang-rape and threatening on Tuesday based on a complaint by the girl’s father.
Dr Preetinder Singh, Kanpur Police chief said, “While the medical examination was on, the father stepped out for a cup of tea. At the time, we have learnt that he was involved in a truck accident. He was rushed to a Kanpur hospital, but he has died. We have filed an accident case and we are investigating.”
