BJP MP Ram Swaroop Sharma, Found Hanging at Delhi Home

New Delhi, 17 March: A BJP MP from Himachal Pradesh, Ram Swaroop Sharma, was found dead at his residence in Delhi today. The MP was reportedly unwell for the past few months.

Mr. Ram Swaroop Sharma, 62, was found hanging in his room at Delhi home, He was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared dead on arrival.

Police still investigating the cause of death whether it was a case of suicide. “He was found hanging inside his room, which was locked from inside. No suicide note has been found,” Prima facie, it appears to be a case of suicide, the police said, adding that no suicide note was found from the spot.

According to police officials, Mr. Sharma’s PA alerted the police control room around 7.45 am after the MP did not respond to knocks on his door. Delhi team was rushed to his residence immediately and open the door and found Mr. Sharma hanging in his room.

Cause of his death will be known after a post-mortem examination, the police said.

Ram Swaroop Sharma was a politician from Jogindernagar in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh, India. He belonged to Bharatiya Janata Party and was elected to the Lok Sabha in 2014 and 2019. He was organising secretary of Mandi district BJP and later of the state BJP of Himachal.
