89,129 New Cases in India, Biggest Jump Since September 2020

New Delhi, 03 April: India in last 24 hours added 89,129 new coronavirus infections amid a worrying surge in Covid cases that has prompted states like Maharashtra to consider lockdown. Today’s surge is the highest since September 20 when 92,605 cases were reported.

Situation is of “grave concern” in the states like Maharashtra, Punjab, Karnataka, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Chandigarh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Haryana, the Centre said after a review meeting on Friday. These states account for 90 per cent of the cases and deaths in the country.

Maharashtra state, which has been worst-hit across India reported 47,827 new cases yesterday, its highest since the beginning of coronavirus spread in India.
