Hyderabad: Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials have seized 25 kgs Foreign Marked one kilo gold bars of four different companies viz Heareus, Suisse, Melter Assayer and Valcambi worth around Rs 12 Crore on the outskirts of the Hyderabad city and arrested 3 persons.
The ISUZU SUV, bearing Assam state number plate, travelled from Gwahati had travelled more than 2500 Kms was about to reach Hyderabad city with 25 kg gold.
The gold was hidden in a specially made cavity in the dash board space by removing lifesaving airbag from the front seat passenger in the car.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the smuggled foreign marked gold was handed over in Guwahati in Assam to be delivered in Hyderabad.
Three persons travelling in the car were arrested and remanded to judicial custody. Further investigation is in progress.
