Bengaluru: A labor department in Bangalore in their preliminary investigation into violence last weekend at a Wistron factory, Apple supplier found numerous labor violations.

Workers working at Wistron factory, complaining about the non-payment of wages for months damaged equipment and iPhone models on Saturday at the Wistron plant.

Wistron factory located about 50 km from the tech hub of Bengaluru, is going to cost the company millions of dollars in damage and is forcing it to shut the plant.

In audit of the factory, hours after the rampage, found “several labor law violations”, the labor department in Karnataka state’s Kolar district, where the factory is located, said in its report.

The labor department said…

  • Wistron did not maintain proper employment and appointment details.
  • Workers and staff who worked in 12-hour shifts at the Kolar plant were not paid for overtime.
  • Wistron did not keep up salary and attendance records as required.
  • Wistron failed to submit these records on demand.
  • Wistron’s manpower providers, Creative Engineers, Quess, and Addeco India, for exceeding hiring quotas permitted under government rules.
