Vijayalaxmi Gadwal, TRC Corporator Elected as New Mayor of Hyderabad
Hyderabad, 11 FEB:Greater Hyderabad Municipal Commissiontoday elected Vijayalaxmi R Gadwal, a TRS corporator of Banjara Hills as new Mayor of Hyderabad.
BJP’s nominee RK Puram corporator Radha Reddy was defeated in contest.
The oath taking ceremony was performed as a group of each party instead of individual candidates by all parties including MIM and BJP parties, on the request of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) party.
TRS corporator from Tarnaka, M. Srilatha Reddy elected as Deputy Mayor by defeating the BJP’s Shankar Yadav.
Both Mayor and Deputy mayor candidates were supported by MIM.
Note: The Hyderabad Mayor is reserved for woman candidate.
