Suspecting Covid-19, A Retired Judge Commits Suicide in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A retired district judge, suspected to be infected with Covid-19, commits suicide at his residence at Miyapur on Friday.

According to Miyapur Police, Ramachandra Reddy Ramireddygari (67), a resident of Cyber Valley, hanged himself from a ceiling fan on Thursday night. The incident came to light only on Friday morning, after his wife found him hanging in his room.

Family members tried to shift him to the hospital, but he had died by then. The Miyapur police found a suicide note, in which Reddy purportedly wrote that he was feeling unwell for quite some days and that he suspected he was infected with Covid-19.

For the last some days, Reddy isolated himself in a room, as he was suffering from fever and cold, and suspected of infected with CoronaVirus.

According to the police, Ramchandra Reddy (67), had dinner along with his family on Thursday night and went into his bedroom around 10 pm.

“Fearing that he might spread the virus to his wife and other family members and get admitted to a hospital, he resorted to the extreme step,” the police said.

“Family members said that he was also depressed after the death of singer S.P. Balasubrahmanyam due to COVID-19,”

Based on a complaint lodged by the family members, a case under Section 174 of the Cr.P.C. was registered, and the body was shifted to Osmania General Hospital.
