Railway Hospital in Lalaguda, Treating CoronaVirus Cases

Hyderabad: The Central Railway Hospital at Lalaguda has stepped up its preparation to give

medical aid to patients diagnosed as having the virus in case there is a necessity.

According to the South Central Railway (SCR) officials, preparations are being made as per the ICMR rules in the hospital to treat patients. After a railway employee was tested positive, the workers’ unions submitted a representation to SCR general manager to start a treatment for the patients at the railway hospital.

SCR officials have written to the state government for permission to treat CoronaVirus patients.

The State government also permitted the South Central Railway’s Central Hospital in Lallaguda to treat moderate cases of CoronaVirus.

Subsequently, the treatment has started on Wednesday with eight patients, all of whom are South Central Railway employees. 

SCR officials said that since the beginning of the lockdown, railway employees had been performing their duties and some of them had shown CORONAVIRUS symptoms. With this, employees were increasing pressure on higher authorities to grant them treatment in SCR hospital.

The 300-bed Central Hospital has been permitted to keep aside 100 beds for treating CORONAVIRUS cases among employees of SCR and their dependents.

To date, around 15 SCR employees have tested positive, and a few of them were asked to go to Gandhi Hospital. However, employees union and employee unions have written to Gajanan Mallya SCR General Manager requesting to start CoronaVirus treatment at Central Hospital. 

A few days ago, Mallya took up the issue with the Telangana States Chief Secretary, following which the State government has given its nod for the same.
