MS Ramachandra Rao Appointed Acting Chief Justice of Telangana High Court

Hyderabad: President Ramnath Kovind on Friday appoint the senior-most judge in the Telangana High court Justice MS Ramachandra Rao as the acting chief justice of the Telangana high court.

 President Ramnath Kovind appoints Justice MS Ramachandra Rao Chief Justice of that High Court with effect from the date Justice Hima Kohli relinquishes the charge as Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court consequent upon her appointment as judge of the Supreme Court of India.

MS Ramachandra Rao, 55, was born and completed the major part of his education in Hyderabad. A graduate in Law from Osmania University, he went on to pursue post-graduation in law from the University of Cambridge, UK. Rao holds expertise in civil law, arbitration, company law, administrative and constitutional law, Labour and service law.

MS Ramachandra’s father Justice M Jagannatha Rao was a former judge of the Supreme Court (1997-2000) and a former Chairman of Law Commission of India.

Earlier on Thursday, Telangana Chief Justice Hima Kohli Nominated for Supreme Court,

New Delhi: Indian government has approved all nine judges recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium for appointment as judges of the supreme court.

Recommended 9 names include three women judges.

The names have been sent to the President for approval. After President’s approval, the judges are likely to take oath on August 31.

The Supreme Court, which has 25 judges against a sanctioned strength of 34, will be left with only one vacancy after the new judges are sworn in.
