Nirmal: Four individuals from Nizamabad district were arrested on Thursday for duping fuel station staffers using fake PhonePe payments across Nirmal, Nizamabad, Siddipet, and Kamareddy districts. The suspects, identified as Jamandla Bharat, D Sai Kiran, Rathod Hari, and Rathod Jeevan from Kishan Thanda in Renjal mandal, confessed to their scheme after being apprehended while moving suspiciously. They admitted to defrauding fuel stations of over Rs. 6 lakh over two years.
Their method involved first transferring Rs. 200 to gain the trust of the staff, then requesting hard cash while pretending to make larger digital payments ranging from Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 8,000. The scam came to light when three victims reported the incidents to the police, who used the registration numbers of the suspects’ motorcycles to track them down. Four mobile phones and four motorbikes were seized during the arrest.
