Hyderabad: In Balapur, a 35-year-old rowdy sheeter named Mohd Riyaz was shot dead by unknown assailants on the night of August 8.
The attackers first hit him with a car while he was riding a motorcycle, causing him to fall.
They then attacked him and shot him dead using a country-made weapon. The assailants fled the scene.
The police have launched an investigation, suspecting that previous enmity might have led to the murder. Riyaz, a resident of Baba Nagar and known to Kanchanbagh police, was returning from work when the incident occurred.
The police believe the murder might have followed an argument with acquaintances. His body was sent to Osmania General Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Surveillance footage from the area is being reviewed to identify the killers.
Senior police officials, including G Sudheer Babu, Rachakonda Commissioner of Police, have visited the site, and special teams have been formed to track down the perpetrators.
